3. Power of Listening
We
know how important listening is because we know a major contributor
to apathy in our country comes from a government that does not listen
to the people. We voice our opinion; cast our vote, but it
never shows up in the policies. This produces apathy.
Because of government no longer listens to the people, many have
given up and become apathetic; they no longer participate.
By
not listening, our government pushes America’s greatest resource
(its people) to the sideline. We can wake a sleeping giant by listening.
We
must bring every freedom loving American back on the playing field
by listening and showing them that things are changing. The Internet
allows people to voice their opinion and the good ideas are rising
to the top. We can overcome the failures of mass-media.

I can get anyone to do anything if I listen
to him long enough. ~ unknown
Listening is motivational because it shows people they have value.
It draws people out of their shell. These days, people have a lot
on their mind and they need to talk. Give them the opportunity and
they will.
I discovered this when I first became concerned about America,
I asked my family and friends two questions.
- What do you think America would be like in 50 years?
- What do you think you could do to make it better?
As I listen to what they said, I could see people really had a
lot on their mind; they had something to say.
Waking a Giant
I believe that if we listen to people long enough, not only will
we learn how best to protect our life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness,
but we will wake a sleeping giant willing and able to protect and
secure our liberty!
A Pattern to Follow
Do
not underestimate the importance of listening. This is what
the Founders put stock in when they were out numbered, out gunned,
and out financed as they faced the largest oppressive force on the
planet.
Governments are instituted among men,
deriving their just powers from the consent of
the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive
of these ends, it is the Right of the people to
alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying
its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such
form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect
their Safety and Happiness.
Good government is derived from the consent of the people.
As they interact, good ideas surface and become popular.
We need to listen. We need to be the change we seek.
This does not mean we agree with every idea. The Founders did not
agree on many different things, but when the time came they united
around the essentials. This is what we have to do today - unite
around the essentials.
