This is a must see program.
The Assignment on Day
32 is about Exercising Your Rights. In that
lesson, I speak about "scaffolding". Scaffolding connects
you to professionals who will teach you your rights and help you
stand up for them through everyday experiences.
What does this mean?
The best way to answer that is to watch the September 29 edition
of Justice for All, Accessing the Promise. The
program featured several former state attorneys general; a former
American Bar Association president; and national chamber of commerce
executives. They along with many personal testimonies explain what
it means to have professionals standing by your side to help you
understand and apply your rights.
For example, in this program an attorney tells the following story.
At 4 a.m. a young man was pulled over for having neon lights
on his car. The officer wanted to search his car and personal
effects, but this man did not think this was appropriate. The
officer insisted.
Rather than be intimidated, the young man used his affordable
access to an attorney and called his attorney. The attorney
accessed the situation.
“Have you been drinking?” “No.” “Do
you have any drugs in the car?” “No.” “Let
me speak to the officer.”
The young man handed the officer the phone. Despite the tyrannical
attitude of the officer, the lawyer reminded him of the facts,
his role in society, the law, the Constitution, and that he
would be facing a law suit if he persisted.
The officer stopped his antics and handed the phone back to
the driver.

this young man had we all need. Because he was equipped, he
experienced the blessings of liberty, the officer learned a lesson,
and the freedom that you and I seek to enjoy had become a little
